Real Halloween Scares

It’s almost that time of year again when the leaves start changing and crisp mornings and cooler evenings become the norm. There’s a certain sense in the air almost like the spirit world and ours have become one. That’s right folks, fall is here and that means Halloween is just around the corner. It’s the perfect time to get your scare on at the annual haunted house circuit but be careful of what you wish for because at some of these haunts you may get more then what you bargained for. We did a little research and compiled a list of haunted houses that also have some paranormal activity to boot.

The Mortuary Haunted House

The Mortuary Haunted House
4800 Canal St.
New Orleans, LA.

This multi-million dollar attraction in New Orleans is located in a building that was once used as a mortuary. Although this haunt is known as one of America’s best-haunted attractions, it also has a fair share of paranormal activity, hundreds of stories to be exact. Reports vary from voices and footsteps up to poltergeist activity and full body apparitions.

Columbia Manor Haunted House

The house was built back in 1864 and was the home of some of Columbia’s more prominent figures and also said to be used as a sanitarium. Although the building is used as a commercial haunted house, there have been numerous reports of ghostly activity.

For 11 years, 6th St. Massacre has been scaring people but many of the employees have reported that the customers aren’t the only ones getting scared. A lot of haunted activity has been reported at this location.

Columbia City Haunted Jail

Here’s another commercial haunt that is housed in an old creepy building that was used as the county jail. There are many rumors of this place being haunted as well.

Mysterious Mansion

Mysterious Mansion
424 River Rd.
Gatlinburg, TN. 37738

Nestled in the shadows of Great Smoky Mountains National Park, this place is a must for anyone looking for a scare while on vacation in the Smokies. Just keep your eyes open for the ghost of “Emily”. She is said to have fallen to her death from a balcony of the hotel located next to the mansion. Past employees have reported seeing her as well as many other odd occurrences such as strange noises and odd feelings. One of the popular stories has to do with customers commenting to the staff on how well the performance of the actors had been, especially the girl actress. The only problem with that is the Mysterious Mansion has never employed a female actress.
The HGC crew had the opportunity to investigate the mansion and we were not disappointed. You can watch the video here and read the report here.

Baxter Ave Morgue
